Hi Jonathan,all,
Do you have any topic to sync tomorrow
Hi Joyce,
Two things from me but maybe email is sufficient if we have nothing else on the agenda:
1) [PATCH v5 0/2] Adds additional information to ARM RAS errors https://lore.kernel.org/all/20240321-b4-arm-ras-error-vendor-info-v5-rc3-v5-...
Originally one of our patch sets (Ampere currently pushing it), but has been stalled a long time. There is a need for input from Tony Luck at Intel but also probably needs some ARM review to push it forwards.
2) From Salil and I, a general update on vCPU HP seems in order.
For kernel side of things, Russell got the _STA change in last cycle, but then Rafael (ACPI maintainer) backed it out again to replace it with a more general solution (avoiding an esoteric bug) That released things a little and got us past one of the more fundamental aspects.
We have been going in circles somewhat since then and ended up with a solution that looks much more like some early proposals but 'hopefully' having been through the process it will be acceptable.
Rafael has confirmed the basic form of the ACPI patches now seems fine to him but will review in detail over next week or so. Obviously we are tight to the end of the cycle, so this may not quite make it. If it doesn't, should be in a good shape for early in 6.11.
I think there are some missing acks for some of the smaller patches + we need agreement from arm64 arch maintainers to the new arch_register_cpu() call. We'd been so focused on major parts of series minor changes to the gicv3 driver etc haven't picked up the tags they should have.
Thanks due to Rafael for quick feedback over last few weeks and Russell, Miguel, James, Jean-Phillipe, various Huawei folk over time and others who have been involved in this epic saga. Not there yet but maybe the finish line is in sight.
Which will unlock the QEMU side of things.
Jonathan
Thanks Joyce

I don't think it makes sense at this point. May well make more sense to discuss in a few weeks though.
I'm not aware of anything else that makes sense to discuss, so probably cancel the meeting this time.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan, all,
Do we want to sync CPU HP or other topics next Tuesday?
Thanks Joyce

Hi Joyce
Currently nothing.
There has been some activity on CPU HP. Rafael has proposed alternative approach for _STA handling. Seems fine to me (+ I've tested it) but more eyes always good! https://lore.kernel.org/linux-acpi/4562925.LvFx2qVVIh@kreacher/
Hopefully we can get the testing needed (related to device surprise removal as those paths are touched) and slip this in for next merge window. We want this in ASAP so we find out about any broken firmware in the wild.
Not a useful meeting topic though!
There are a few things we are working on that will want discussion but we aren't ready for next week (and need to give warning to get the right other people there!)
Jonathan
Thanks Joyce
